Instructor Biography:
Roxanne Blanc, Fashion Designer
My sewing journey started at age 4 when learning how to hand embroider with my Mother and Nana. Learning to sew on a sewing machine quickly followed and by high school I was designing and making my own garments.
In college I earned a degree in Fashion Design and Production Pattern Making. Specializing in Bridal and Eveningwear, I landed my first major brand as assistant designer to Eva Forsyth. This was at the height of her career in Charlottesville, Virginia while collaborating with the Designer, Scassi. I was lucky to have learned from her and continued on in my career as a Designer at Couture Fashions in Miami, Florida.
Shortly after I transitioned to a new career as a Textile Designer/Drafter at Metritek in Boca Raton, Florida. Metritek was one of the largest family-owned knitting mills in North America that specialized in the production of lingerie and bridal laces. Over a 15-year period I became an expert at designing and drafting patterns for Jacquardtronic, Binary, Fascination and Jacquard machines. I currently enjoy being a freelance pattern maker for a ladies apparel brand that specializes in bold prints for an activewear collection.
For the past 12 years I’ve enjoyed sharing and teaching sewing techniques through my YouTube channel, Roxanne Stitches as well as one on one teaching. It’s exciting to me to help open the world of sewing to new sewists with interest in learning these skills.
